I’m fairly certain that when I first told people the title of my poetry collection, they weren’t very impressed.

In all fairness, it does sound a little…sappy? Cliché? However, in reality, it is anything but.

It came from gentle instruction from Jesus.

God cares about what’s in and on our hearts, and He was calling me to write it out. To write to Him, and for Him. And so, when I decided my first book would be a poetry book, that is the title that pulled them all together.

Write your heart.

God is much kinder than we deserve. He wants us to sit with Him and tell Him what is on our hearts—our worries, anger, sadness, joy, awe, nostalgia… And when our hearts are turned to Him, it all comes back to His faithfulness, holiness, grace, glory, and the hope we find in Him.

So friend, I encourage you—write your heart, speak your heart, paint your heart, sing your heart, dance your heart… however He has gifted you to do it, share your heart with Him and with those around you.

You never know the lives that can be changed, even if it’s just your own.
