As the Waters Cover the Sea
Heartbreak may come with darkness
and shadows plague the day
yet hope still lives.
The aches shall fade with wonder
and bright will be the skies
for hope still lives.
From the day the King cast out the traitorous nobleman Lucius and the Great Sea became a desert wasteland, the City and the desert have been at odds, with villages settling in between. Deadly explosions, sickness from the desert, and raids leading to slavery have increased, bringing pain and heartache.
As Karsten and his team of Kingdom Warriors leave the City walls behind, they must learn to trust their Gifts to guide them through sickness, broken hearts, and desert terrorists seeking to end their mission.
Leaning into the words of the foretellings and their relationships for strength, the Kingdom Warriors see visions become reality as they fight to rescue as many lives as possible before the final reckoning.
This needs to be on my bookshelf next to The Lord of the Rings, the Chronicles of Narnia, and the Prince Warriors series!

2025: Gifts & Grace
On January second, I sat in my car in the parking lot of Good’s and Dutch-Way and talked on the phone for 45 minutes, thankful my winter coat was keeping me warm. It was the first of many conversations to come with the guy who would become my boyfriend. Two days later, that guy – Curtis – and I met for the first time at a coffee shop (over tea and hot chocolate).
And thus began my crazy, beautiful, whirlwind of a year.

Behind the Poem: Two Pieces of Wood
Welcome to the first “Behind the Poem” blog post, where I’ll be giving a bit of a story behind a poem from my book, Write Your Heart. Enjoy the glimpse behind the curtain of poetic words!
Around 1:00 in the morning, those of us who were participating in our youth group’s late night worship entered the dimly-lit sanctuary. From the sound booth in the back, our youth pastor started the music and I settled onto the carpet in the left corner of the stage, sitting in the shadows with my notebook next to me.

2024: One Step at a Time
2024 was the fastest year I’ve ever experienced, and looking back, it was filled with little things (like watching my 1-yr-old niece pet bluebells in the yard and seeing an otter while kayaking down a creek) and bigger things (such as watching the solar eclipse in my backyard with tears welling in my eyes in awe of God’s incredible creation). Will you join me on a journey through 2024?
